Blame it on Nick (my son). He introduced me to Suzanne Collins' series, The Hunger Games. We were talking books (no surprise in my household!) and when he described the plot as an apocolyptic world where contestants from each district compete to the death, I had to read it. Fortunately, I didn't have to wait long because Nick then gave it to me as a birthday gift soon after! Read it in one night.
The only good thing about coming in late to a series is that inevitably, subsequent titles are then available, and I was able to read Catching Fire soon after. Now the bad news...I have to wait for the third (Mockingjay) to be published, and even worse, it's the last! This is unacceptable. Not since Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows have I felt the loss so keenly. Shall we start a writing campaign, ask Ms Collins to reconsider? Who's with me?!
